The History of Paris

There was a time when a wedding band, or orchestra as they were more commonly referred to as, was put together rather hastily, and served as a weak backdrop to an evening's affair. The selection of tunes were the usual standards gathered together without plan and played in a slipshod manner. These orchestras performed with little gusto and less imagination. The result was a repetitive drone of songs that everyone had heard before, resulting in a predictable and dull evening.

Today, with the advent of high technology, and the competition from DJ's, live wedding bands have had to undergo changes in order to survive and meet the demands for an evening's entertainment. Many have fallen by the wayside in an attempt to compete while new bands have had to alter their styles in order to meet those demands of patrons for musicians who could replicate the sounds of an original recording while still retaining their own distinct flavor. One of the top groups to emerge from this new breed of musicians is a band called "Paris", a group that stands out, not only for its ability to reproduce the music exactly as it was originally written and played but, by maintaining its own unmistakable individuality. Today, with the disposal of the old style wedding orchestra, the connotation of a tacky three-piece outfit in wrinkled lapels no longer holds true. Today's wedding band is a group of highly trained professionals and this is in no way better exemplified than by the band called "Paris".

Performing for weddings, corporate parties and many other various functions, "Paris" gives each occasion its own meaning with a careful selection of tunes from a diverse repertoire of music. With its fine combination of guitars, keyboards, horns, drums and vocals, this nine-piece group offers a sound that is full, round and alive with excitement. Whenever "Paris" performs, partygoers are moved to get up and dance and be a part of the gala affair. After all, isn't that a great deal of what it's all about? From the big band "Swing" music of the 40's on through the romantic ballads of the 50's and 60's, into Disco, Motown, Rock, and today's top 40, "Paris" interprets each generation style with such skillful exactness that one can truly appreciate the talents of these fine musicians.

In the movie "Casablanca", when that rather gruff fellow with the low, grating voice whispered "...We'll always have Paris...", we all knew what he meant; that no matter how wide the distance or how long the time he and Ingrid would be separated from one another, that special moment in Paris, when they experienced love and romance, would always remain in their memories. What was his name again? Nevermind...we'll think of it. Our point is that in providing carefully selected material for every special occasion "Paris" is able to create an ambience that is particularly suited to each bride and groom. Through hard work and dedication, the music so faithfully represents the styles and arrangements of the original artists that everyone has to look up at the Paris musicians to see if it's really them playing. The extraordinary talents that combine to produce such a band as "Paris" with its urbane, polished style and tight, even rhythms, make the band easily distinguishable from its contemporaries. This is one of the reasons for its stupendous rise in popularity that is proven by the number of bookings the group receives each time it showcases. Today it is one of the most sought after wedding bands in the tri-state area. "Paris" makes each occasion unique. So, after the champagne bottles have been emptied, the wedding cake has been eaten, and the lights have been turned low, the wedding couple will know that the music lingers on as a beautiful memory of an evening that they too, will always have.
